This whimsical kitty is all decked out in ribbon loops and knotted tabs, to delight the busy exploring fingers of the very youngest children.
Busy doll makers will be delighted, too: the doll is super-fast to make, with no hand sewing required! Even the embroidered details of the face can easily be stitched on any zig-zag machine. For those devoted to hand work, detailed hand embroidery instructions are also included.
Best fabric choices: Use a combination of fabrics with smooth and textured surfaces. Soft woven cotton is best for the knotted tabs and the face. Try flannel, corduroy, velveteen, fleece, or pique for the body and back of head. Both satin and grosgrain ribbons work well.
Materials for the doll:
Assorted fabric scraps (if purchasing new, 1/4 yard is minimum cut for body).
24 inches total of assorted ribbons, from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inch wide.
Black sewing thread or embroidery floss for face.
Sewing thread to match fabric.
Small amount of stuffing: un-spun wool batting, poly-fluff, or cotton balls.
