What's a Thimble Garden?

It's not about thimbles, and it's not about gardening.  Nope, it's all about FABRIC, and all the ideas that are forever "sprouting" in my head.

I'm Margaret Lunn, quilter, dollmaker, puppeteer, and all-around fabric crafter.  I've been creating with fabric pretty much all my life.  Quilts, dolls, clothing, bags, accessories, upholstery, window treatments ... you name it--I've made it!   Sewing must be in my genes.  My mother and grandmothers were all very talented seamstresses, needleworkers, and quilters, and I learned from them as a small child.

Originally trained as an Art Historian, I taught at universities in New Jersey for a good number of years, then went back to school AGAIN for a degree in Computer Science (yeah, I have more degrees than a thermometer), and went to work as a database administrator for another many-year stint.

In 2005, my darling husband and I escaped the rat race in New York City and moved to the tiny town of Chatham (population about 300), in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire.  I love it here.  Oh, and did I mention?  I REALLY love it here!

It's a good life here in the country.  Every year, I enter a quilt in the Fryeburg Fair, and I won Best in Show 2 years in a row.  Pretty cool.  Not exactly the International Quilt Fesitval, but hot stuff here in the woods.

Thimble Garden is the fulfillment of a life-long dream for me ... to start a small business doing what I love:  having fun with fabric!  So far, the business part of it is very small indeed, but I'm having LOTS of fun.  Please visit my Etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop/ThimbleGarden), or my facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Thimble-Garden/328331462905).

Happy sewing,

Margaret
